My Matthew

This boy's birthday was 2 weeks ago. He turned EIGHT! How can that be?  Wasn't he just in preschool yesterday? We celebrated in CA with my family and today, we will be celebrating with his friends with a pool party.

This was the best picture we could get with all the cousins together. I think Mark was the most excited for cake. Haha.

We Are Back!

We got back from CA on Wednesday night, but our luggage did not show up until Thursday night.  Yes, the fine people at American Airlines somehow overlooked our luggage and forgot to put it on the plane that we were in. Oh, and our flights to and from were delayed.  I shouldn't be surprised.  The joys of air travel.

Thank goodness my boys are great travelers.  They were so good on both flights which made it so much more bearable.  Matthew and Mark slept most of the time on both flights and Michael kept himself busy by playing on the iPad and drawing pictures.

What we did in CA posts to follow.  It's been so busy since we've been back. Matthew's birthday party is this Saturday so today I dropped all the boys off at their G-parents and spent most of the day getting party supplies and food.  Then I had to take Michael to practice and stay for a parents' meeting to discuss the select soccer process and fees.  YIKES! It is expensive. But we had a discussion with Michael and he wants to play so we'll have to fork up some major cash.

Tomorrow is uniform fitting so I'll have to drop Matthew and Mark off at the G-parents again and drive Michael to get him fitted.  It would be so much easier is M were around to help out.  We have not seen him for almost 3 weeks! We're excited to see him again tomorrow night.

Last Day of School

Last day of school today! Since this is Michael's last year at the elementary school, they are having a clap out for him and his 4th grade classmates later today.

Weekend in Pictures

Because I'm fighting another round of writer's block, here are some pictures I took this weekend.  We didn't do much except to spend most of our time outside because the weather has been gorgeous.  We are taking advantage and hanging out on our patio as much as possible because I know this won't last much longer.  I'm hopeful that our summer will be mild, but I've been in Texas long enough to know better!

On Friday, Matthew's class had an award ceremony in his classroom.  He got an award for showing patience.  Not sure if they gave it to the right kid. He certainly has not shown a lot of patience at home. He also received the "Ultimate Dragon" award. Yippee!

I had planned on taking the boys to the zoo, but morning news weatherman said there's a chance of rain so I changed plans and decided to hang out at home in the morning.  Later in the afternoon, I took Michael and Matthew to a going away for one of Matthew's classmates who is moving to Chicago.  It was a swim party, of course.  And the weather turned out to be perfect for it.

We grilled up some beef kabobs and we had them outside.  Then I "made" strawberry shortcake for dessert.

These two were like peas and carrots this weekend.

Sunday was much of the same.  We ordered Babe's fried chicken and took it over to my in-laws and enjoyed it there.  It was relish! Biscuits and honey is so yummy.  Then we came home and M took Michael to soccer practice.

4th Grader No More

Today, Michael is officially a 5th grader even if the last day of school is not until Wednesday.  We went to his graduation ceremony and of course they had a slideshow of all the kids set to a Taylor Swift song about not growing up too fast. It was sweet, but it made me cry.

Michael looked so cute in his little outfit. Even his shoes matched!

He got the "Ultimate Dragon" award and his core essential was "Friendship"

I LOVE his hair like this.

With Mrs. Rumpler - she's such a sweet teacher.

With his buddies Aakash and Christopher.  Aakash will be going to a different Intermediate school next year.
