Happy Friday

Happy Friday!  How is it that it's been a week since I've last posted?  Time flies when you're having fun.  This morning when I got to my desk, I found a sweet surprise to start off my day from my sweet hubby.

It's been a pretty crazy week.  Last Friday, I went to get most of the school supplies for all THREE boys.  I can't believe my little Mark will be heading off to Pre-school. He will be in school 5 days a week from 8-2pm.  I'm kinda freaking out little nervous for him.  This cart was literally full of school supplies.

And of course, Texas heat is in full force.

Our house remodel is also in full force.  This was our kitchen before...

This is our kitchen as of yesterday.  They will be moving the plumbing on Monday.  I'm so excited to have a new kitchen.  We've picked out the tiles for the backsplash and I think it will look fabulous, but I'm still a bit nervous about it. We will be going to pick out our granite slabs today.

And here was what our bathroom looked like.

Doesn't it look better now?  ;-)

The big boys have been enjoying their summer with friends.  I didn't sign them up for camps or anything so they've just been hanging out and doing whatever each day.

We went to Korean barbecue for dinner one night.

This boy was into making silly faces that night.

And per our tradition, we stopped by for some fro-yo after dinner "to help digest" all the meat we ate. These guys can drive me to the looney bin, but they are three of my favorite people.

We went to Best Buy to get a couple of TVs for the new house and Mark found the video game demo station. Thank goodness because it took forever to pay for the dang TVs.

He woke up earlier than usual yesterday morning and wanted to snuggle.  Love this boy.

Michael has another soccer tournament this weekend and it's going to be hot, hot hot!  Then there will be lots of school related events - Meet the Teacher, Locker Night, Band Camp, practices & lessons, oh my.  I'm tired just thinking about it, but it's gonna be an exciting couple of weeks! Fall, here we come!

Another Random Post

My mind has been focused on the kitchen and bathroom of the new house. I'm so excited but I'm also very nervous about the whole remodeling situation.  Another thought popped into my head at 4 this morning and kept me awake.  What if they can't move the plumbing in the kitchen?!  Then I'm stuck with the layout I hate.  If we can't move the sink, my design won't work and I will be devastated.

We are meeting with Grant today to go over the final scope of work.  The cabinet guy is going to be there to talk about the features and layout.  This is getting serious...

Anyway, we've done a couple of fun things this week.  Mark had some friends over to swim on Monday.  The mamas had fun catching up and the kiddos had fun swimming. Of course, I didn't get any pictures because we were busy chatting.

On Tuesday, we met up with Corie, Jennie, Cali and Dylan at Dove Pool.  I love this place.  I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again - this place is perfect for our little family.  Big slides and big pools kept the big kids entertained and the SHADED play pool area is perfect for the little kiddos.

Dylan and Mark got along most of the time.

Michael and Matthew having a good time too!

The crash from too much sun and water.  These boys were exhausted and cranky afterwards...

This was them last night.  I love when they get along. Mark wore undies overnight for the first time because we finally ran out of pull-ups.

Happy Tuesday!

Is it really August already?  This summer has gone by so quickly, but I say that about every summer.

Last weekend, me and a couple of friends took a Thai cooking class at Central Market.  It was so much fun and the cooking was pretty easy. Easy in that we didn't have to prep or clean up and we got to eat yummy food with wine!

We started with papaya salad. This was OK.  My mom makes the best papaya salad.  This was a little too bland for me.

The chicken satay was good.  And the peanut dipping sauce was the best. It's from a local restaurant where we get our Thai food and can be purchased at Central Market.

Then we made drunken noodles.  I think we put too much soy sauce in ours so it was not great, but our instructor fixed it by putting in more noodles for us.

Fanny was very happy to cook up the meat.

Olga brought her husband with her so he cooked for her.

I got to cook the eggs.

And this was the dessert! Mine did not look like this, but it tasted just as yummy.

Last Wednesday, Corie flew in from California with Cali and Dylan to visit and look at houses.  Mark was showing off to Cali at dinner.

These two play so well together, except when they want to same thing at the same time...

While Corie and Jennie went to look at homes, Dylan stayed with us and played.

Michael had a scrimmage last night against a team that had high school boys on it.  Thankfully, no one got hurt. I love this boy.

New House

Yesterday, we closed on our new house.  I think you know you are buying the right house when every time you go see it, you like it more and more.  When I first saw the pictures of this house, I was not impressed. Love the location and love the curb appeal, but I thought it looked old and it was just not what I envisioned as my dream house.

Then we went to checkout out in person and I was pleasantly surprised.  I saw the potential and I thought I can turn it into my dream house.  The third time I saw it, I was sure I can turn it into the house that I've always wanted.

And all this happened at super-warped speed.  We first set foot in the house on Wednesday and closed on it on Friday - just 10 days later.

This was the best picture I got of these three monkeys.

Matthew is getting angry with Mark for not smiling and getting this photo session over with, and Michael is just standing with his fake smile.

This first time these boys were all together at the new house!

Now, I am excited to get our major renovation started.  We are changing everything about the kitchen and the master bathroom and making updates to the rest of the house.  It will take about 8 weeks to complete everything so closing on the house in 10 days is a really great thing!

I love the way the house looks.

These pictures are from the listing website.  The house is empty now.  Interesting fact - Keith Brookings lived here with his family for a few years when he was playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

This room will go through the most change.
