Lemonade - The Musical

Matthew had his first class musical called "Lemonade" last Thursday.  He was so cute up there doing his little moves.  I asked him to give me a preview of the songs that he was singing before the play, but he insisted that I be surprised.  He didn’t have a solo and I can tell that he forgot some lines of the songs, but it was so much fun watching him!

Midweek Randoms

My baby started to hold his own bottle last night! He looks so cute lounging on the sofa, drinking his bottle and watching TV.

Michael colored his nail with a black marker yesterday. I asked him about it and he said he got in trouble for it with his Dad. I don’t think it was a big deal. I told him I wanted to paint my nails black and he said, “If you do, you’ll look like a bad girl. You should also line your eyes black.” Cracked me up. I love that kid!

Sunday Funday!

Saturday was hot and steamy - I mean weather. And Sunday was another perfect Spring day to enjoy outside.

Love that expression on Marky's face!

We finished out Michael’s soccer tournament. It was actually a pretty exciting game. His team tied 2-2 and Michael played really well. This affirms my feeling that he plays better without Paddy at the games and makes me feel really good about our decision to pull him out of Odyssey.

After the game, we went to the End of Season party for his Star Jets team. It was a perfect day for a nice outdoor barbeque party. The kids had so much fun playing kickball, football, and of course, water gun fight. It was great to for them to just get together and play around. It’s funny that that see each other 2-3 times a week, but never really get the play. It was wonderful to see them chase each other around and just goofing off without an agenda or schedule.

At this point, we don’t know if we’ll sign Michael up for the next season. I don’t even know if Coach will keep the team together. This team has been together for 4 seasons so I will be sad to see it break up. I’ll definitely miss the families that we’ve gotten to know and become friends with.

This has nothing to do with this post, but he's adorable so who cares?

Soccer Saturday

Michael had a soccer tournament today at McInnish Park in Carrollton.  Although there were only two games, it was a long day!  Our team didn't do so well.  They lost 4-3 in a really close first game and lost 5-2 in the second game. Our first game started at 9:15am and the second game time was 2:15, so our day was pretty much shot.

I love watching Michael play but it was so hot and Mark with Mark, it was very difficult to be excited about being out there.  Michael played well in the first gem and scored a goal.  He didn't play as well in the second game.  I think it was because his coach was there.  He always does better when his coach is not at the game which is the reason we are moving on to a different team.

We have another game tomorrow at 1pm.  It will be our last game because his team will not make the playoffs.

Yes, it was that hot...

SUYL - New Friend Day

Who doesn't like to make new friends? Not this gal.  It's always fun to read different blogs from around the country, but it's especially nice to read about families from the same area and being able to recognize local places they write about.  SO... I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner to "meet" blogger friends from the DFW area.

This is me:

I’m married to this man:

I have 3 boys:

We moved to TX almost 2 years ago from California to this house:

I work as a Marketing Communications Manager in an office building in Las Colinas, but I am a full-time mom.

I love to read, write, and be creative.  I’m not always good at all those 3 things, but I enjoy doing them.

My current obsession is nail polish. This color is called "Peachy Keen" by China Glaze. Makes me feel happy...

Six Months of Marky

Marky-Mark, you are 6 months! You are half-way through your first year. You will hear this a lot, but you are growing up so fast.

We took you to your 6 months appointment todat and you did so well! You barely cried when the nurse gave you your two shots, and you swallowed all the Rotavirus syrup without any issues. Dr. Scott says that you are healthy and happy and I am so thankful for that.

Things to Remember:
Your sleeping is getting a little better – you nap 2-3 times a day. Sometimes you’ll sleep up to 3 hours each. Recently, you’ll nap early evening for 30 minutes. You will go down for the night at 9pm and will wake up for a bottle at around 2 or 3 in the morning. Then you’ll go down again until about 7am. I’m so thankful that when you wake up for your bottle, you go right back to sleep.

You are turning over both ways now without a problem. In fact, it takes me much longer to change you because you always want to turn over whenever I lay you down. That, and you are always trying to reach for something. You’ve learned to roll over again and again to get to where you want to be. You aren’t very good at it yet, but you sure give it a good effort. I’ll lie down on the opposite side of my bed from you and you’ll try to get to me by rolling. It’s so cute! One time, I laid you on your mat and when I came back to check on you, you where by cabinets in our living, licking the floor. Yucky!

We started you on rice 3 weeks ago. You didn’t like it and would push it out. You would even start to cry when Sarah fed you, so we went to squash the week after to see if you liked it any better. You did OK with it, so we went to avocado. You weren't a fan of that either. I don’t think you’re ready for solids yet, so we’ll suspend it for a little while and then start back on rice in a week or two. Dr. Scott said we shouldn’t have started until yesterday. Oh well.

You are taking 6-7 oz. of formula every 4-5 hours. You take more at night and can wait longer between feedings. Again, I am thankful.

You are still wearing size 3-6 months clothes, but started to wear size 3 diapers this month!

Things You Love:
-For someone to sing to you. Itsy-Bitsy Spider, Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes are your favorite songs. You smile every time you hear it.
-Your baths
-Putting things in your mouth and licking it
-To be held
-Being outside
-Playing with your brothers
-Standing up (with us holding you, of course)
-Playing on your piano walker
-Crunching up the pages of magazines
-Playing with your fabric books, and the Lamaze toys
-Your Mamma and Daddy.  You love your Daddy more, but I won't hold it against you.  He's pretty great.

Stats:
Height: 26.25 (32nd percentile)
Weight: 16 lbs. 8oz. (54th percentile)
Head: 18 inches (92nd percentile)

Such a Happy Little Boy!

A Day at the Zoo

Michael and his classmates went on a field trip to the Ft. Worth Zoo today. I volunteered to be a chaperone. I’m glad they only gave us 3 kids each because I would not be able to handle more than that. They were good kids. It’s just they are so active and I am getting old.

It was a perfect day for the zoo – warm, but not too hot. We got there around 10am and walked around in the MOLA Exhibit for an hour and a half. The boys wanted to see EVERY reptile and amphibian in the exhibit. I must say, I was a trooper because those things are repulsive to me.

After that met the class for lunch outside the Crocodile Café and went onward to see the African Safari and Asian Falls. It was a bit smelly and by that point, the boys were a little bored. We took a little break and I treated the boys to some snow cones. By the time they finished, it was time to meet up with the class again to get back on the bus.

It was a beautiful day and I had a great time. The best part was when the kids were waiting to get on the bus (chaperones had to drive there), Michael said to me, “Bye, Mommy. I love you.” Awww…I heart my Baby!

He only calls me “Mommy” when he’s deliriously happy with me. And to top it off, he gave me a kiss on the lips. IN PUBLIC, people!

Our little group.  I threatened to stay here all day if they didn't give me a good picture.

Snake touching.  Yuck.  Thanks goodness I always carry hand sanitizer with me.
