Show Us Your Life - The Things that I LOVE/Make me happy

I love, love, LOVE my baby boys, and they make me happy.

I love M, especially when he's fighting over dessert with the babies. And he makes me happy, most of the the time.

Going on vacation makes me happy. This is the 7 Sacred Pools in Maui that M and I visited last summer.

Pretty things make me happy, like this pretty red rose.

Hooray for Weekends!

What a happy, busy weekend we've had! It was all about the boys.  They had their last soccer games of the season Saturday so we celebrated with team BBQs.  It was actually "Sweets Fest" for Michael and Matthew since they ate none of the actual BBQ food and all the cupcakes and cookies their hearts desired. Matthew's team, the Little Dragons, won 6 games out of 7, so they had a very successful season.  As for Michael's team, it was not so successful in the winning department.  They were 0-5-2.  But Michael really enjoyed playing this season more than any other season, I think.  Most of it had to do with M being the coach for his team I think. Even though they did not win any games, I think it was a great opportunity for Michael to hang out with his Daddy.  He always wants to make his Daddy proud, much like any other little boys.

On Sunday, we headed out to my favorite place to take the boys, Gilroy Gardens.  It's an amusement park that's perfect for children their age.  I also love all the different trees, flowers, and water features throughout the park. Michael loves going on the roller-coaster.  It was so great to see him screaming and laughing on the ride.  He definitely is his father's child.  Matthew was scared and kept telling M. to hold him tight on the ride.  He later admitted that he was scared that the roller-coaster would go too fast that his seat belt would break and he would fall out. Crazy kid!

Needless to say, we had a busy, but fun weekend. It'll be awhile until I can do anything with them again on the weekend, so I'm happy that they had a good time. The next few weeks will be challenging for me. I am looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I just can't wait for things to settle down.

Lucky #7

I'm tying to catch up and catch my breath.  Time just always seems to get the best of me these days.  Honestly, I don't know how it happens either.  I wake up and suddenly it's time to put the kids to bed again.  It's been a long time since I've posted and lots of things have happened.  Nothing extraordinary or super exciting--just life taking it's course.

My darling little Michael turned 7 on March 26.  We decided against having a "Texas-sized" party and opted for inviting a few of his school friends to see "How to Train Your Dragon." Very cute movie and it looked like the kids were having a great time horsing around and eating popcorn and candy.

He's very excited to finally be 7 and keeps counting the years until he's a teenager.  Yikes! He is fascinated with being a teenager.  He seems to think that once he hits that magical age, he can be and do anything he wants, specifically, get a "rocket-pocket."

I'm still coming to grips with how much he's changed.  I know it's inevitable.  They ALL grow up, but I look at him when he's sleeping and I still see me little baby pining for his "nuk-nuk." He will occasionally still cuddle with me on the couch and those are the moments I relish.  If I time it right, he'll cuddle right after bath time and that's when I'm reminded most of his babyhood.  The smell of the baby shampoo just takes me back in time to before the attitude the the "mom, your embarrassing me" moments. Yes, we've had a couple of those moments.  Usually, when I try to kiss him at school.

To my little Skinny Bone Jones, I am so proud to be your mother.  I know that every mother thinks their kids are the smartest and cutest, but you truly are. You have brought so much joy into my life and I'm so blessed to share my life with you.  I know that we will have countless arguments and threats ahead of us, but one thing will always be constant -my love for you.  I look forward to watching you grow.learn and discover and hope that you will become what you aspire to be.  I hope that you find great successes throughout your life. I hope that you find joy in all that you do.  Most of all, I hope that you grow to be kind and compassionate.  I know you will because I see that in you already. Happy 7th, my little angel baby,  and I love you forevers!

Ramblings...

How can I not have a job and still feel like I'm having to run around like a crazy lady? Fortunately, I have been able to sneak in a workout almost everyday.  Unfortunately, I have not lost any weight.  However, I am determine to keep going.  It doesn't hurt, right?  If nothing else, my heart will be healthier from all the cardio I've been doing.

Matthew has officially been registered for Kindergarten.  Poor little guy had to have 4 booster shots, a finger prick for blood test, and another arm prick for the TB test.  All in ONE doctor.  I felt horrible for him.  He was a trooper and only whimpered that he was scared and that it hurt.  I think that was worse then him screaming and making a huge fuss.

My Michael is turning SEVEN this Friday.  How can time go by so fast?! Instead of having a party, he's agreed to invite a few of his school friends to see "How to Train a Dragon" this weekend. I'm thinking that this will to be less hectic and less complicated than planning a party.  He has also requested to eat out at an Hibachi grill, so we will be heading out to Kyoto Palace Friday evening to celebrate.  This year will be very low-key for him. I hope he doesn't feel like he's missing out on anything. As for birthday present, I have not been able to decide on what to get him.  He wants a Pokemon game (not sure what it's called) and some music CD called "32." I'll have to ask him again.  It changes everyday.

I signed both of them up for soccer.  Matthew is so excited about playing on a soccer team.  He keeps asking who his coach will be. I'm looking forward for them to being able to participate in organized activity again.  I hope they can make new friends through this.

Viva Las Vegas!

Has it really been almost 3 weeks since I last posted? I know you all are  just DYING to know what is going on in the Fisher household.  Am I right?  Well, my friends, a whole lot of nothing worth posting about, but 'll do it anyway.

I had laser surgery on my eyes and I am happy to report that I neither died nor went blind. Cliche as it sounds, it's so great to be able to see my clock without having to fumble for my glasses.  I don't have 20/20 vision yet, but I'm getting there.  My doc says it can take up to 4 weeks so I'm hoping for that 20/20 vision soon.  My little Michael took very good care of me when I was recovering. He was in charge of getting my eye drops and making sure that the cold compress went back into the freezer after each use. He was very sweet about the whole thing.

We also took a short trip to Las Vegas with my parents last week.  I think the boys had a great time.  We took them to Circus Circus, and they had a blast playing the carnival games and going on the rides.  They both managed to win some stuffed animals. Although, it's not hard when "everyone is a winner." However, I think it's worth mentioning that Matthew beat out everybody, including adults, at the horse racing game where you toss a ball into the holes to make the horses move.  My 4-year old won first place! I was so proud of him. And I just want to add that my boys are awesome travelers.  They were great on the flights to and from Vegas even when our flight was delayed 3 hours.  It makes traveling so much easier.

I feel like I need to have a conclusion to this post, but I've got nothing.  So, that's all, folks!

Beach Boys

We were able to make it down to Avila Beach again last weekend.  This time, with "Missing Piece." We were fortunate to get a break from the recent rains, so we had plenty to sunshine to play in.  In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was down there.

We stayed at the Avila la Fonda and again, I was very impressed with the hotel.  I feel so at home there and it's in a great location. It's a short walk to the beach and is surrounded by restaurants and cute little shops.

We spent the whole Saturday at the beach.  Michael and Matthew had a great time playing in the sand and the waves. They met a new friend and played under the pier, looking for sand crabs and sea snails.  They found a starfish hanging on to dear life on the pier pillar.  It was very cool to see a starfish outside of an aquarium in it's natural habitat.

We also found lots of seashells and we even found 2 huge live clams that we brought home for dinner. It was NOT delicious.

A Clearer Vision by Next Week

So I've decided to take the plunge and get vision correction.  I'm a little nervous because they always tell you that there's a chance of, oh, DEATH in any type of surgery.  I'm trying not to think about that too much.  Then, of course, there's the chance that something goes wrong and I lose my eyesight.  Too scary to think about.  As you can see, I have reasons to be nervous.

I am very afraid of pain and would not normally elect to have surgery, but I'm tired of wearing glasses and my very, very, very bad vision.  I'm considered to be legally blind without corrective lenses.  I use to be able to wear contact lenses, but my eyes have developed blood vessels due to lack of oxygen from the contact lenses, which is not good.  So, I have been stuck with wearing glasses almost all the time. I hate wearing glasses! My kids knock them down. It gets spotty in the rain, and I can't take yoga classes with them.  After much internal debate, I've decided to get PRK and am scheduled to go into surgery this Friday. I would have gone with LASIK, but I don't qualify because my vision it so bad.

Please send those good vibes and prayers my way!
