{Five} on Friday

I found this linkup at the good life blog while reading up on my favorite blogs and thought it would be fun! Here's what I'm loving this Friday.

{One}
Matthew got the "Ultimate Dragon" award today for completing 6 community service projects and reading the required amount of hours for this school year. Go Matthew! Too bad the picture is blurry...

{Two}
The FC Dallas game with my brother, sister and the boys was so much fun.  Added bonus - FC Dallas won!

{Three}
My sister introduced me to Alex and Ani bracelets. I'm loving the simple design and can't wait to add this to my budding collection!

{Four}
I'm in love with the candles from Bath and Body Works.  I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover it.
{Five}
I was looking for a nice light pink nail polish and found this - Chic from Ear to Tail.  Very pretty!

Memorial Day Weekend

I'm so happy that my sister, my brother and his family were able to visit for Memorial Day weekend (most of the weekend anyway).  My sister left on Sunday and my brother is leaving tomorrow.  It's going to be so quiet around here, especially when the boys are in school.

On Saturday, we went over to my in-laws and the boys swam.  My brother made this yummy tri-tip steak on the grill.  Then we went to the FC Dallas game.

On Sunday, we went to Pappadeux for lunch before my sister had to leave for her flight home.  It was delicious - I ate way too much

This was the best picture I got of all 4 of them.

We just hung out around the house on Monday and the boys went swimming with my bro. The boys love swimming with their uncle because he throws them around in the water.  They may be getting to heavy for him to do that though. The water is still too cold for me, so I stayed on the patio and watched.   The weather was perfect for sitting out on the patio! We went to dinner at The Feed Store - one of my fave local BBQ restaurant. They have the best ribs.

FC Dallas in the Rain

We took a trip to Frisco last night to watch FC Dallas play the San Jose Earthquakes.  It started to rain right when we sat down, but it was OK because I actually was prepared!  I had some ponchos that I bought 2 years ago and we were totally styling when we put it on.  Michael elected to stick it out and not put one on.

FC Dallas won 1-0! The boys had pizza and lots of fun with their Yee-Yee and Kou-Foo!

Silly people!

Boot Shopping

My brother, sister, and SIL wanted to get some cowboy boots so we went boot shopping on the first full day of their visit yesterday.  It was a good day because they all found boots and I got to indulge by having Mark try on his first pair of cowboy boots!

Adorable! However, the price tag was a little (actually, a lot) more than I am willing to spend so he posed for us a little and we put them back.

He loved those boots!

Soccer!

Michael had a soccer tournament in Lewisville last weekend.  His team won all 4 games and had 2 shut-outs.  They other teams only scored 2 points against them the whole tournament.  Go Solar!

Champions!

Michael did great and got really aggressive towards the end of the tournament.  He got to play more defense than any other tournament and he has gotten a lot better at it.

The first game was on Friday at 8pm.  They played for about 20 minutes before the lightening warning came on.  We were told to go into our car until they came to get us to finish up the game.  We waited for an hour and then they told us the games were going to be rescheduled. They boys found a way to stay occupied. First they called to each other in the car.  Then they decided to get into one of the parent's truck and hang out. So cute!

Haircuts

Marky got his first buzz cut yesterday and he did so well! He sat still the whole time while M used the buzzer to shave his hair off.  the only time he whined a little was towards the end when the little hairs were bugging him.

Before....

After....

Then it was Matthew's turn.  He didn't want to at first, but he relented.  He had so much hair that the buzzer got clogged a couple of times. After the cut, he said he did not like it, but this morning, he was very happy with it because he said he can see much better and he doesn't have to hold his bangs back anymore.  He looks so much older with it!

Michael could not be convinced to get his hair cut.  He said he wanted to wait until school was out.

Mystery Reader

Yesterday was "Teacher for a Day" at Michael's school and his "teacher" was Brittany.  She has an awesome surprise for them.  She brought in a Mystery Reader who happens to be a Dallas Cowboys tight-end - Jason Witten. He was so excited!

Jason read "Oh, The Places You'll Go" and took a class picture with them.

Some Going Ons

Just a few things going on.

Praying that the people who are still missing from the tornado activities that touched down yesterday in Granbury, Cleburne and Ennis are found safe.  It’s only been 3 years since that last time we had these devastating tornado events.

Last night was also a bad night for my little monkey. I’m not sure what he had, but whatever it was made it very hard for him to breathe. He was wheezing and snoring and would wake up every couple of hours because he couldn’t breathe.  I was so scared and was very close to taking him to the emergency room again.  It sounded like this throat was swollen and his air pipe was blocked.  To make it worse, M was not at all helpful.  He got angry and complained that he hadn’t slept in 4 nights.  I didn’t need his attitude and told him to get out and go to the guest room. I didn’t really care at the time for his lack of sleep (which was not our fault) when my baby was struggling to breathe.

Michael has his 4th grade musical tonight at 7.  We are so excited to see him.  He’s so shy about being on stage.  I’m hoping that he gets over it because being able to perform/speak in public is so important.  Although, I never really got over it and I am doing fine.

Matthew stabbed the inside of his elbow yesterday at school and had to go the nurse’s office.  He claimed it was an accident and maybe it was, but it seems a little unlikely to me.

Tomorrow is my last day at work. After tomorrow, I am officially a SAHM – a new season of my life is starting and I can’t wait!

Mother's Day Weekend

Happy Mother’s Day!  We haven’t done much as far as celebrating Mother’s Day.  I get cards for the grandmas from the kiddos and M gets a card for me from the kiddos and we call that a celebration.  But lately, as the boys get older, I’m feeling like we need to do more – not because I want the attention, but because I want them to start thinking about appreciating people in their lives and learning how to show it appropriately.

Anyway, on Saturday night, we dropped the boys off at their g-parents and went to dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day.  Yes, I see the irony, but it is so nice to have dinner without having to feed an 18-month old and without all the bickering. We went to this place called Hibiscus and it was so good. For dessert, we shared a carmelized pineapple bread pudding – it was so incredibly yummy that I wished I didn’t have to share it with M.

On Sunday, we spent most of our day outside – we had hamburgers and hotdogs on the patio for lunch.  Then the boys went and played at one of their friend’s house.  Those little stinkers snuck into the house, changed into their swim clothes and went swimming at the Fisher’s without me knowing.  They knew that I would have told them it was too cold for swimming. As Matty tells me – “Mom, you’re overprotectd! It’s embarrassing.”

Mark was so sweet last night.  Matthew and Michael got into a little tussle and Matthew started crying.  Mark saw him crying and made this really sad, sad face.  Then he went over and kissed Matthew. When I gave him a tissue, Mark took it and started wiping away Matthew’s tears and making these cooing noises.  Melts my heart!

High Five for Friday

Time for High Five for Friday at Lauren Elizabeth! I'm working from home this morning so I can take Michael and Matthew to their doctor's appointments later.  Not going to be a fun visit - let's just leave it at that. But we had a great week and lots of stuff going on for the kiddos this weekend.  Looking forward to it!

1. Got my Benjamin's gifts this week.  Can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks.  I hope it will be warm enough for swimming!

2. My roses are finally blooming.  Love to see my beautiful flowers, and they smell so good.

3. This little monkey has finally decided the he does not need a bottle in the middle of the night. Yippee!

4. I had dinner date with this little man on Wednesday.  His choice of food?  Sushi.

5. I ordered a couple of things from Stella & Dot that I've been eyeing for a couple of months! They shipped and I can't wait to get my Renegade and Vintage Twist bracelets!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Just Another Wonderful Weekend

1.     Had a wonderful weekend.  Soccer game for Matthew on Saturday– it was a blowout.  Matthew’s team scored so many goals that we lost track.

2.     We went to see the Rangers play the Red Sox on Sunday.  What an exciting game.  Rangers were down 3-0 and we were like, “they are due for a loss.” Then Rangers tied it up 3-3 and M was like, “we need to leave after the 7th inning. I told him “no” because the game was tied. Then we compromised and agreed that if it was still a tied game after the 9th inning, we would leave anyway. Turned out that the 9th inning was the most exciting because with only one out and 1 strike left, some guy on the Rangers team hit the ball and his teammate made it home to win the game 4-3. The then M ran ahead of us to get out of the ballpark and we were forced to run after him.  I wonder if we would have left us behind if we couldn’t keep up.  Sounds like an experiment.

3.       Technically, this isn’t part of the weekend, but I’m throwing it in here anyway.  Last night M and I went to Parent Orientation for Michael’s new school for next year.  I took notes and listened very carefully to what Michael will be experiencing at his new school.  Lunch is 30 minutes, 10-minute recess, bring water bottle, how to prevent dehydration headache, math groups, 5 minutes to go to locker and bathroom in between classes, drop-off starting at 8:30, etc.  M was took no notes and paid no attention – he was on his phone – probably playing Bingo.

4.    This was from last weekend, but again, throwing things in.  Matthew's artwork was chosen to be shown at the student art show as part of the Arts in the Square last weekend.  We went over to take a look last Sunday.  He was one of about 80 students out of his whole school who got picked for the art show.  So proud of him.
